Greg Heffley will never change his wimpy ways... somebody just better tell Greg's dad that. Frank Heffley actually thinks he can get his son to toughen up and he enlists Greg in organised sports and other 'manly' endeavours. Thus far, Greg manages to side-step his father's efforts, then comes the threat of military school and Greg realises, he has to shape up or ship out!

School Library Journal Review

Gr 4-8-Greg Heffley is at it again in the third title (Abrams/Amulet, 2009) in Jeff Kinney's hilarious series. In this installment, Greg is trying to catch the attention of the beautiful Holly Hills, survive middle school and his brother, and somehow impress his dad so he can avoid being sent to military school for the summer. Ramon de Ocampo's excellent narration and impeccable timing perfectly captures Greg's angst-filled voice. There is also a note of empathy in this telling so that listeners will not only relate to Greg but also will find themselves cheering for a positive resolution with his father. Have the book handy so listeners can peruse the wonderful cartoon illustrations. The perfect choice for reluctant readers, avid readers, and anyone who needs a good dose of humor.-Deanna Romriell, Salt Lake City Public Library, UT (c) Copyright 2010.
