Library Journal Review

These walks, taken from the pages of the UK's Countryfile magazine, show off some of the most beautiful countryside in England, Scotland, Wales, and Northern Ireland. The walks are arranged geographically and include tours through the Cotswolds, the Pilgrim's Way (made famous by Chaucer's Canterbury Tales), Sherwood Forest, Scotland's Bannock Burn, and the dramatic Sperrins of County Tyrone in Northern Ireland. Each walk-rated easy, moderate, or challenging, and ranging in length from two to 13 miles-includes a time estimate, directions and highlights, and the appropriate excerpt from the much regarded and detailed Ordnance Survey Explorer Map series. While only a small number is rated challenging, few are appropriate for wheelchair access. Some of the walks also include a boat or train journey. The occasional pub or inn is recommended, and the guide includes web addresses for tourist information. VERDICT With its strong binding, attractive photographs, and variety of walks, this guide will make a wonderful companion for enthusiastic country walkers.-Linda M.
