School Library Journal Review

Gr 2--4--Kane's newest series introduces American readers to the charismatic eight-year-old fox named Ginger Green. The middle child in her family, Ginger has an older sister named Violet and a younger sister named Penny. Both her parents are doctors. In (Un)Luckiest Camp Ever, she is excited to be going away to sleepaway camp with her school friends for the first time. Ginger ends up sharing a cabin with two of the most mischievous girls there, Maisy and Martha. Although both girls' antics get their group in trouble, in the end they are able to save the camp from a disastrous incident. In Total Chaos!, Ginger's cousins visit from New York City. One of the cousins, Tess, is the same age as Ginger. Tess's brother Tom teams up with Ginger's sister Penny to get into some naughtiness. In these charming imports from Australia, Davis's engaging illustrations showcase energetic Ginger and the goofy silliness of the children's escapades. Epilogues include suggestions on how to recreate some of the ideas and activities from the books. VERDICT Fun, wacky tales where any child can feel part of the story. Great additions to public and school library collections.--Annmarie Braithwaite, New York Public Library
